This installation was an absolute pleasure for this previous client who was looking for another simulator for their holiday home.
The client has a Uneekor system with GsPro in their home simulator, but with our move to Trackman only, we explained the benefits and features that a Trackman IO launch monitor would bring.
As this was a new home being built from the ground up the room allocated was already extremely wide. With some adaptions to the ceiling design we were able to come up with a truly massive space of 5660 x 3120 to be able to house our impact screen. This resulted in a projected image of 5360 x 3015 @ 16:9 in 4K.
Clean lines were important in this room and there was already a control system installed by the clients AV company, so audio was covered along with the sky tv feed for dual purpose. The room shape actually had a recess in the corner behind the impact screen. We took this opportunity to place the pc there and then have a pc power switch extended out to the perimeter edge of our faux leather panels. This makes the pc/system easy to turn on and wake up and without the need of the pc/pc cabinet visible in the room.
Two 55″ 4K touchscreens were positioned on opposite walls. The one behind the golfers back is the Trackman navigation screen. This is a duplication of the projected image and is where you would go to navigate around trackman tps software to select your game, golf course etc. The monitor facing the player shows trackman extended screen data. As this screen is customisable, it allows the player to show the exact data they require. We always opt for this position for the extended screen so its easy to look up and see that information. We also had a sky tv feed implemented into this monitor so if the client wanted to watch tv instead of seeing the additional data, this is easily achieved.
The Benq 4k BR series projector was chosen. Again higher quality colours compared to the LK series, it really does make the image pop. Don’t be fooled by the advertised low lumens on this projector. Once you dive deeper into the spec the lumens on the blues & greens, which is typically the colours you’ll see in golf simulator software is actually in excess of 6000 lumens. This has caused a lot of mis information on projector specs and something we are working hard with benq to simplify lumen specs on projectors.
IDS swing cameras were also installed with face on and down line the positions. The client likes to delve deep into swing analysis so we also installed our studio floodlights as these enhance the player greatly when recording. These are not to everyone’s taste but if you want the best recording then they really help.
The bay consisted of our ultra impact screen and trim kit. This still leads the way for us with golf impact screens. We have seen and tested more expensive screens but we still believe this is the best impact screen material on the market. In this case the most expensive screens out there are certainly not the best in our opinion. We then have our upholstered wall panels all custom made to fit the room.
Huxley black turf and tee turf strip was specified by the client for a super clean finish. The guys from Huxley Golf did a great job as always installing the golf simulator turf.
Overall a beautiful setup with a great size screen in 4K make this a timeless installation.
