Not entirely sure where we start with this project as this has so many amazing features and this is a very special Trackman golf simulator room.
Lets start with the layout, a beautiful size room at 5.5 metres wide and 10 metres long. A step down into the Golf Sim Area really does make a great impression. We started this project with on site meetings with the owner, fantastic building company, their interior design and great AV technicians. We knew with all our expertise coming together we could make something truly spectacular.
Firstly the brief was to come up with the ultimate sports lounge. Certain spec options needed to be achieved. The client was looking for a Trackman Golf Simulator but also wanted a moving floor to be able to practice different lie angles. We knew the Zen integration with Trackman was on the horizon so it was perfect timing to introduce this. Golf Tech Systems have become certified Zen installers and flushing a zen into the floor was chosen. The client also wanted this to act as a home cinema room. We discussed the various options with the AV company. Seating position is critical for this and it was decided the cinema seating would go on the lower floor area, we just needed the correct space to clear the backswing safely. Control4 system was also being implemented and the client preferred a cinema drop down screen to appear in front of the golf screen. Storage was then discussed and we had an alcove down the right wall where hidden doors could help store golf clubs etc. We also explained we could implement a dart board system with camera tracking that the software could go on the sim pc and therefore the projected screen. This was a nice bolt on feature.
Now onto the room components. Ultra impact screen with blackout and trim kit hold a perfect 16:9 image. Two 43″ 4K touchscreen monitors on opposite walls gave a balanced feel aesthetically. Screen behind your back for navigation and face on for additional trackman golf simualtor data. This face on monitor also has a sky tv feed so the client could opt what to display. The Benq BR 4K projector was chosen on our recommendation. This projector is often overlooked in trackman golf simulators but really shouldn’t be. The lumens listed are low but this isn’t as straight forward as you think, but if you know what to look for then you’ll appreciate what truly matters in a golf simulator when it comes to lumens. Golf Mode wall introduced just after installation and we travelled back to upgrade the projector as it really does enhance the greens and blues.
Two IDS cameras for face on and rear video swing analysis. With the rear sat on the rear bar it works very well above the cinema seating. We also added the Zen tablet under the face on monitor so the client could independently move the floor with the zen software before the trackman golf simulator integration goes live.
The Av company done an amazing job with the AV elements to the room. A Control 4 tablet is positioned between the both zones to control the room. Our pc was positioned in the AV room because we knew it could be controlled with the Control 4 system. A golf mode was implemented in control4 that wakes our system up ready for golf. The cinema mode turns our projector off and drops down the cinema screen. It also controls all the lighting and all the rear curtains are also on electric tracks. It makes the room transition quickly and efficiently. The rear bar is also a great place to sit and look down at the golfers playing. We’re a big fan of this type of layout with raised areas.
Overall this room and design was simply breath taking. So much more went into this project and it was a pleasure to work with new companies on the building and AV side. It really does show what we can achieve when working with different parties, bringing all our expertise together and working in harmony with each other to create the ultimate sports lounge.
